Zachary Taylor

What are some bad things that Jimmy Carter, Calvin Coolidge, Zachary Taylor, and James Madison have done?

I need to be prepared for a debate in my government class and need to argue that James Garfield was the best American president and these four were the worst.

JAMES GARFIELD was the BEST American president? Lol. Well I guess he was noble, but … he literally did nothing of any sort of worth, except die, which paved the way for civil service reform. See my source list for more info.

Jimmy Carter – EXTREMELY inept president. I could really go on and on here. Very naive about how to handle important situations.
Calvin Coolidge – Ignored warning signs of the Great Depression.
Zachary Taylor – Not a very strong stance on anti-slavery, which was at the time gaining momentum. Also kind of died before really doing anything (lol). Merely a war hero and not someone of substance.
James Madison – He was a brilliant thinker, but some criticized him for adhering very strictly to the Constitution. I really cannot think of any reason why he would be one of the “worst” presidents.
