You Decide

How do I decide which career is good for me?
Im a freshman in high school, and I want to start thinking about what career i want to pursue.
I have owned & ridden horses, western and english for almost all my life, and it is very important that horses can still be a part of my life, whatever I choose.
I know that i want to go to college, whatever I decide to do, that way i have a degree.
It would be very good if the college had some kind of riding team.
Anyway, some of my interests are:
horses & riding
animals (dogs and cats mostly)
photography
journalism(i am newsreporter for my 4H club currently)
I would LOVE to be a riding instructor, run my own stables, etc, but i dont think that would bring enough money in to support me, and the horses.
I might want to be a journalist or a photographer, but im afraid that i wouldnt get to work with horses very much,
Whatever i do, i want to have flexible hours and a good salary.
Any suggestions for careers or anything are great!
Thank you very much!
veterinarian – takes a long time in college, and is difficult to get into.
But if you do make it through, you can be a vet to the national equestrian team, or a top equestrian riding school.
start off by mucking out stables at the local race track to prove your willingness to start at the bottom – and to put that in your resume. Also you can make some good contacts that way, which might help you with future employment.
If you want to be a journalist, try making enquiries at a top notch horse magazine. There must be a few around the States somewhere.
