how much is a lincoln wheat coin collection from 1941-1958 worth?
i have a coin collection from 1941-1958 and wanted to see how much it would be worth.
Regardless of what people say about the huge quantity of later ‘wheat’ cents that were produced, people still snatch them out of their change whenever they find one. This fact alone, that someone will put it away rather than spend it, means these coins are worth more than face value.
These cents, as of today, are worth 2.5 cents just in the copper alone, though you would probably get 1.5 cents each if you had pounds and pounds of them, from a copper bullion investor. A coin dealer would pay you 2 to 3 cents each, and if you had the complete date and mint run from 1941 to 1958, which consists of 51 coins, including all 15 of the tougher S mint cents, the same dealer would pay $2 to $3 for circulated coins, or 4 to 6 cents each. He would offer the same set in his store for $10 – $20.
You could probably get $6 or $7 on eBay if it’s in a coin book.
