Do phisheads annoy anyone else?

It might be because I go to school in Vermont, but phisheads (some prefer the term phishtard) annoy me. They’re everywhere on college campuses, and its hard to keep from vomiting in lecture when two birkenstock-clad freshmen are sitting in front of you showing each other how they got “Trey” tattooed on their foot or something godawful like that. Phish is a decent band, it’s their fans I can’t stand. Discuss.

I don’t see how their interest in a particular band should irritate you. The fans I can feasibly see making people disgusted are generally called “wooks”, and they’re prone to do all sorts of horrendous acts in the name of Phish – while never actually going into the show, because they’re broke. They just hang around the parking lot, talking about how much they love Phish whilst selling drugs.

I suppose that’s the kind of Phish fan I don’t really enjoy. I don’t understand why drugs are a necessary part of appreciating music, but to each his own, I suppose.

For the record, I’m a huge fan of the band, and have been since junior high school. I dress relatively normally, and all external indications do not point to my fandom of Phish. I’m a 22 year old female theatre nerd, Birkenstock free, who just happens to be a tremendous fan. They’re legitimately my favorite band.

Not all fans are complete morons, honestly. There are a handful, but every band has their fair share of completely mind-bogglingly stupid fans.
