The Process ensures 1/2 will be face up 1/2 will be face down. Each coin enters the machine in a different position meaning the lettering starts in various places. (note your roll) If it was rare, you would only find 1 of them in every $1000-$10,000. Think about it.
NOT ERRORS:
Upside down lettering.
Lettering starting at different positions on the edge.
ERRORS:
The edge lettering did not get placed on the coins at all.
There are other errors on the face of the coins that are typical of all coins (face being well off center, etc.)
BEWARE:
People can shave off the lettering and claim they are the rare ones. This doesn’t make them rare and I don’t know how to tell the difference.
NOTE:
They have only found these errors coming out of a Florida bank but that could change. However, only coins minted at the Philadelphia mint have the errors. (And of course, you can’t see the P for philadelphia because the error means it won’t be there!)
