Uncirculated Full
Value of full set of benjamin franklin uncirculated half dollars?
It really depends on the condition of each coin, because the uncirculated, or mint state grades, have eleven levels from MS60 to MS70, and within those grades, premiums are placed upon examples with the ‘Full Bell Lines’ designation.
To give you an example of the extremes prices can take, and to illustrate why each coin needs to be graded individually…a complete set, date and mint mark, in the lowest mint state, MS60, will probably go for about $500. A complete set in MS66 with all coins designated FBL will cost over $100,000.
A nice, fairly evenly matched set in the MS63-MS64 range without FBL can probably be put together for somewhere close to $1000.
I am talking professionally graded and certified coins. Unslabbed ‘raw’ coin sets can be had cheaper, but then, unless you’re an expert grader yourself, you won’t know exactly what grades you’ve got. So if you’ve got a set of ‘raw’ coins to sell, it’s your opinion that they are all uncirculated, and a buyer may or may not agree, and you probably won’t be offered much more than $100 above the ‘silver value’ of the 35 coins in a full set. As of today, that’s about $235, so I’d expect to be able to buy one for around $250 for nice VF+ to AU coins to $350 for coins in the low MS grades with maybe a few AU acceptable for that price.
