As for selling prices, many privately-minted 1 Troy oz. .999 fine silver rounds and bars on eBay are selling for around $13-16, including shipping. (You can typically ship one coin to US buyers for $1-2, and per-coin shipping costs go down substantially as quantity increases.)

That happens to be about at – or in some cases, as much as a couple of dollars higher – than today’s spot price of around $13.25 per Troy ounce. Some bullion coins, such as American Silver Eagles, sell for substantially higher than spot.

Other possible buyers include Internet-based and local coin and bullion dealers. Most will buy at a modest discount below spot, and sell at prices above spot – at a modest premium for silver rounds and bars, and a higher premium for “official” bullion coins: American Silver Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, and the like.
