Which school should i go to, the cheaper one or the one with a better program?
i have to decide between UNC Charlotte and East carolina University.
UNC Charlotte:
We have an apartment down there so free room, brother goes there, have a chance to start early in the summer, but not a great Biology program. 3 hours away
ECU:
10,000$ fee, Great bio program. 1hr 30 min away
i plan on transferring after a year. im so confused on what to choose. its really stressfull HELP!
This is obviously going to hinge a lot on personal preference, but I would be more willing to go the cheaper route. Also being from North Carolina, both of these schools look good on a resume, especially next to a great GPA. If you are planning to continue your education after undergrad, think about the costs. I’m currently in vet school, and most of my class will be graduating with over $100,000 in debt in a few years. Having no loans from my undergrad, I feel like I’m better off in the end then a lot of the others who had to take out major loans to go to more expensive undergrad institutions, and hey, we all ended up in vet school together!
If, however, you are not going to be able to be happy “settling” for the more affordable option, you’ll be better off with ECU. If you’re unhappy, you’ll be less likely to apply yourself to your schoolwork, and you’ll probably always wonder “what could have been” had you gone where you truly wanted to.
Weigh your options, and just remember that in undergrad, you can always transfer, travel abroad, and change your mind a million times!
