Nowadays it is common to associate guns with weapons in movies. However, there are many movies that also have their main characters using a more traditional weapon like the sword. There are many types of Movie replica swords on the market, for example, fantasy swords, Samurai swords or medieval knight’s swords. Some popular movies that have swords in them are Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Braveheart, Eragon, 300 and The Golden Compass, just to mention a few.
Movie replica swords are for the most part interesting to collectors. Although they can be used for training, the majority are not battle ready. This means that they can not be used for actual fighting in which the sword will have to come into contact with another weapons, such as another sword. Using a sword that is not battle ready in a competition or play battle will probably just end up with it breaking and that would be a shame for such a detailed, replica sword from one of your favorite movies.
However, just because movie replica swords are generally not battle ready that does not mean that they are not great for carrying around at a convention about the movie or at a gathering for fans that come dressed up like characters from the movie. Swords that are replicas from movies also make great props if you are interested in acting out a part of it or reenacting scenes.
For collectors movie replica swords are not just interesting because they can add to an existing collection, but also because they may actually increase in value. Especially limited editions of movie replica swords may one day be valuable just because there were not many produced to begin with. As a general rule, the rarer the movie replica sword the better it is for the collector looking to make a wise investment.
A certificate of authenticity must also come with any movie replica swords that are part of collection, but the licensing should also not be forgotten. The swords should be officially licensed or they will just be another replica.
