if the time of contact with the board is 2ms, and the blade mass is 1kg, what force is exerted on the board.

Impulse, I, is equal to change in momentum (mΔv)

I = mΔv = m(v₁ – v₂)
I = 1(10 – 1)
I = 9 Ns

Impulse is also equal to force*time

9 = F*0.002
F = 4500 N or 4.5 kN
