How much is an Indian Head 1938 Silver Nickel worth?

Found it in an Old box and was Just wondering.

It’s not actually silver–it’s made out of the same copper/nickel alloy that current nickels are made of.

The value is going to depend on the condition. If it’s worn about like the average coin you’d find in change, you might be able to sell it to a dealer for a couple of dollars at most. They just made too many of them to be worth much of a premium until you get to coins that have no wear on them at all. If your nickel is “uncirculated”, then you might be able to get close to $10 for it.

And now, my standard advice–whatever you do, don’t try to clean it or “improve” it’s appearance in any way, no matter how “safe” someone swears it is. Cleaning damages the coin, and kills any value it might have
