What is wrong with this coin?

I have what seems to be a seated liberty half dollar; it has a lot of wear on it, the seated liberty figure on the front is pretty much just a blur, looks kind of like the rock of Gibraltar. But the reverse is somewhat better, the eagle with the shield is pretty clear, the “half dol.” denomination is right, and “…ted stat … ica” out of “United States of America” is pretty clear, and I can see the pennant that should have the motto on it, even if the motto is gone. But the coins doesn’t SOUND like silver when dropped on the table; it sounds like base metal; any ideas on why that might be?

If you are looking for the unique “Ting” then you need a newer coin. After all those years in circulation, it’s lost it’s weight. So it would sound more like base metal like copper.
