Research has shown that most of the people who make new year’s resolutions fall back in exactly the same old habits within a few months. The good news is that setting concrete goals definitely isn’t completely useless, because these people teach them ten times more often than the people who only have a vague wish for change.
Why Intention’s Alone Are Not Enough to Create Changes In Your Life
All people on this planet do some things consciously and planned, and other things unconsciously and automatically. These to kinds of behavior are like two parts of an iceberg. The Conscious part is like the tip above the surface, and the unconscious part like the huge mass that’s hiding under the water. The unconscious part leads to 95% of our behavior.
The Internal Battle
Our conscious behavior is most of the times aimed at what we will do in the future. our unconscious mind reacts to what happens right now. We’re automatically repulsed to do things that feel bad immediately, and automatically pulled towards behavior that feels good immediately. The problem is that most changes only have an effect when the behavior is repeated for a long time. When you make a change, remember that the unconscious is responsible for 95% of your behavior. You will have to learn how to use your unconscious mind for you instead of against you, if you want to succeed.
