Windows activation not working?
My grandparents called tonight and asked me to come out to there house and set up this “refurbished” computer that they bought from a local computer store here in town. So the first thing I notice is that windows XP has not been activated….I thought “that’s weird” when I tried to activate the windows home install it said.”This COA key can not be used because it has been used too many times.” I copied the one of the tower and put that one it and got the same message. Then I noticed that automatic updates are turned off. This is getting very fishy. Did my grandparents get screwed here?
Sounds to me like the place they got it from are scammers.It does seem as tho thet did get screwed.I would take it back and demand the money back.Or at least the amount for a windows xp operating cd,then go to best buy and buy a new copy of xp and install it for them.Plus that way if the computer ever needs to be reformated again you have a legit copy of xp.
