Using only half of a full set of natural gut?

My local pro shop only sell the full set of Babolat VS gut, and not the half sets. Since gut come in sealed packages not like other strings, wondering if I could just cut the set in half and use the other half later (next restring) or do I have to use them once I open up the package.

I’m hoping you are talking about using it as the crosses for a hybrid string set. If that’s the case, I don’t see why you couldn’t, as long as the full string is long enough to use for two sets of crosses. You would have to be careful how you store the leftovers vacuum sealer could work well if you have one. Might also just put it in a ziplock with some of those packs of silica gel that come with just about every pair of shoes.

I also found this at tenniswarehouse.com. It’s a packaged half-set of natural gut for use in custom hybrid sets. They have it in three gauge sizes. You might also check out some of the prepackaged hybrids they have that use natural gut. Also try the links at the bottom to the Pacific half sets. This Titan string says it’s inexpensive due to minor gauge and cosmetic imperfections.
