Get Away To New Hampshire For Mountain Biking Fun In The Great Outdoors
New Hampshire is a fantastic place for four-season outdoor recreation. Snow skiing and ice skating in winter, swimming, hiking and biking in spring, summer and fall, New Hampshire is the perfect place to spend some time in the great outdoors.
Cherry Mountain Loop Trail
The 25-mile long Cherry Mountain Loop trail takes mountain bikers through northern New Hampshire and around the Dartmouth Range. Ride your Schwinn mountain bike from the trail head on Route 302, along the Ammonoosuc River on Lower Falls trail. At about half a mile in, check out the first of three waterfalls you will be seeing along your ride. At Cherry Mountain Road the trail changes from paved to unpaved. The adventurous can take a 3.5 mile detour to the top of Mt. Martha and the not-so-adventurous can stay on the main loop. Continue down the trail to the Mt. Mitten Road. This road winds up at Jefferson Notch where you will most likely see traffic.
Attitash Trails
Twenty miles of trails await the adventurous and not-so-adventurous mountain bikers at Attitash Trails. If you take the tram to the top of the mountain, you can ride some wicked steep downhill trails. Just make sure you wear your padded Pearl Izumi shorts or you will feel it on the way down to the bottom of the mountain! The cross country trails are easier. These begin at the Attitash Base Lodge. You can take trail 16 to where it meets trail nine. Taking trail nine along the Saco River is a pleasant ride. Merge back to trail 16 and continue on to trail 15 around the Thorne Pond. After making the Thorn Pond loop, you can head back the way you came, ending at the main lodge. Bikes are available for rental at Attitash.
Drummer Hill Trail in Keene
In southwestern New Hampshire, the Drummer Hill Trail in Keene has trails that will suit everyone from the beginning mountain biker to the expert bikers riding Diamondback bikes. Beginners should stay on the main trails, which are wide and fairly easy riding. Experts can try any number of trails that break off of the main trail to experience some fast trails with good drop-offs, extra steep downhill and some dirt jumps.
Bike Trails For Everyone
New Hampshire mountain bike trails cater to a wide variety of ability levels. All of the trails go through beautiful New Hampshire woods, along rolling hills and rivers. Mountain biking in New Hampshire is a great activity to do with family and friends.
