How do I ice a cake to make it look like a professional cake?
I want to learn how to make gorgeous cakes, and ultimately wedding cakes.
I have heard of fondant icing. I think you roll it out? How would I make it?
Tips and suggestions for layer cakes are much appreciated!
before you frost your cake for real frost it with a thin layer, this is a crumb layer, it’ll make the the frosting look a LOT better when you add a thick layer of frosting. when making a layered cake, after it’s cooled cut a thin layer off the top to level it off and don’t over fill your layers in between with filing/frosting. Fondant is ideal for making your cake look smooth it’s basically a rolled dough.
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp. butter or shortening
1 tbsp. milk or water
Mix all ingredients together until very firm, then use a rolling pin, and roll the fondant out on wax paper, then put on cake when done.
