Reverse Die

why does my car die after im in reverse and go to put it in drive?

i have a 1997 chrysler cirrus.. and whenever i put the car in reverse i have no problem but the second i got to put it in drive from reverse it dies. what could this be? im not sure but dsometimes i think it may be puttering.
ok let me say this too.
if i am parked, and i put in drive there is no problem. but then if i am driving and come to stop SOMETIMES it will die like that too.

You might have a bad idle air (AI) control valve,it keeps the engine running by keep the air & gas mixed correctly,it takes more fuel to move the car forward ,then it does to moe backwards.
