How rare is the Starwars Darktrooper action figure?

How rare is the “Fans’ Choice #1″ Darktrooper action figure with a Gold Coin? I just want to know if its worth opening to put with my colection. Or is it too rare and not worth opening? Whoever can answer me, please do so. =)

When they were first released fans scooped these up. After several more waves hit shelves they lingered for awhile.

This is not the first release of this figure as there was an Expanded Universe version years before.
I would open it as they are only selling for around $10 on eBay.
