Is it better to get a randomly picked roommate for college or try and meet someone ahead of time to room w/?
for the school im going to next year they dont offer any quiz or survey to see who you would be compatible w/ its all completely random unless you request a roommate. im scared im going to be stuck w/ some random anti social freak lol…do you think its better to just let the school randomly match you or try and meet someone and pick to room with them(ive been trying to off uroomsearch and the schools class 0f 2014 facebook page).
Even people who have known each other and been friends for years become roommates then hate it and each other at the end. You never really know someone until you live with them. Meeting someone online, chatting for a few weeks isn’t going to guarantee you will like the person. I wouldn’t think it to be worth the effort. Bad roommates are survivable (I know because my freshman year roommate was admitted to a mental hospital, she was literally crazy and did not like to take her meds).
You aren’t dependent on your roommate for social interaction, there’s everyone else on your floor, classes, clubs. Sometimes the anti social quiet kids are the best roommates since they won’t bother you, it’s better than having a party girl passed out naked covered in vomit on your bed.
