Rainbow Target

In the 1800 why did the english dress in red during wars?
I was watching T.V. and it showed that the english dressed in red during wars. I want to know why they dressed in the most noticable color in the rainbow, for the enemy thats just a noticable target. Did the queen make them wear it or were they just primitive? I’m racking my brains here
There were 3 main reasons:
Firstly,in the era of black powder firearms, within a few minutes of a battle beginning, thick clouds of black smoke covered the battlefield,so it was necessary for troops to wear brightly coloured uniforms so as to be clearly seen by their officers and more senior commanders.
Secondly, the British chose red because it was seen as a martial colour and it was believed that this would make the British soldiers feel braver and intimidate and scare the enemy.
Finally, blood from wounds would be less visible on men wearing red uniforms – it’s not an apochryphal story, and is mentioned in 18th correspondence of British officers.
Btw there is NO conclusive evidence that the New Model Army wore red coats. The only contemporary reference to NMA uniforms is a Parliamentary order for cavalry coats “of the Venetian colour,as before” – Venetian Red is much nearer to brown than the red of 18th and 19th century British uniforms; and as the NMA was formed in 1645 and Cromwell didn’t become it’s Commander-in-Chief until 1650,any reasoning that the British army wore red because of Oliver Cromwell and the NMA is faulty.
