Quarter Unopened

Quarter Unopened
Can you help me figure out the difference in value/quality between these two rolls of coins?

On the US Mint website, they have rolls of quarters, dollars, etc. that are circulating coins but are rolled in a special wrapper and sold directly from the mint, therefore the assumption is they have never been touched by human hands. Keep in mind however, that you can also purchase these same coins in bags, which means they are getting knocked around and scratched. Now for the comparison: The mint sends out what I assume to be the same coins to banks all across the U.S. But they are rolled in a different paper. It doesn’t say US Mint on it, but I have gotten several of these rolls and they are all beautiful. I really think the quality is still there (even better quality than the ones in the bags) but the price for the rolls that say US mint, are very expensive whereas the ones I get unopened from the bank, just cost face value. So are my assumptions incorrect, or should these bank rolls be just as valuable?

The coins from the mint in their special wrappers are put into those wrappers by machines and the machines can damage coins. The ones the bank has, came to the federal reserve bank in that district first, in large plastic boxes, they are then wrapped into rolls by a machine and they can be damaged or banged around twice. Never assume that new coins have not been touched for a lot are. The term uncirculated is an old term and never was always right anyway. The term used today is better and is mint state that is the coin is just like it left the mint with no wear. The high mint state grades mean few bag marks, great luster and a real good strike. Modern mint items except for a few low mintage commemoratives are made in the 100′s of millions and they won’t have a great value to long after you are not around. Some mint items are a good buy and others are all hype. last year with all the hype about not being able to get blanks the American Eagles of that date were high in price, this year they are lower for the same date. One must study the coin market before investing. One does not have too if they collect for fun and the history as well as research. Those collectors are called Numismatist the others are not. Good luck on your collecting.
