RV – Recreation Vehicles and The General Types and Classes
RV recreation vehicles are truly becoming very popular and you may be considering purchasing one to travel freely to lakes or beaches on the weekends. Perhaps you are considering trying out the nomadic lifestyle of packing up all your things in an RV and hitting the open road for months. Regardless of what your goals are, deciding on the best type of RV can be challenging if you are not sure of what you want.
The first thing that everyone should know about RV recreation vehicles is the classes they are broken down into. There are three general types of RVs: A, B, and C and each suits a different sort of use, and each type has a different cost.
If you are looking for the cream of the crop in the RV world, the Class A RV recreation vehicles will give you the most luxuries and space. They are seen more as the boxy RV’s which have a cab that extends as part of the living quarters. These would be the higher end RV models and they can be very comfortable too. The downside to luxury is the difficulty of maneuvering the large A class through traffic, and some camp grounds do not have the infrastructure – the road design – for class A RVs.
Class B, RV recreation vehicles are vans that have been converted to be an RV. They are the smallest class of RVs, and also in general the most affordable. They offer the least amount of space, but are far easier to drive around than a Class A RV. Because of their relative ease of use and affordability, Class B RVs can be very popular.
Class C, RV recreation vehicles are the middle ground between Class A and Class B. They are put together from van chassis or modified trucks and also have the typical sleeper sticking out over the cab. Class C RVs are a good choice if you want more room than a Class B, but are not comfortable driving around a Class A. They are in the middle of the pros and cons of the two classes, and the typical price can range in between the lower end of Market Class A’s and the upper part of market class B’s.

Another bonus about belonging to a club is once you start your RV trips, you will be able to access RV park campground information. Once you do decide to purchase an RV, jot down a quick list of the important things you want in order of their priority. Clubs will provide you with terrific information on the types of RV’s to choose from as well as providing RV checklists. Once you’ve made a checklist, ask yourself some questions. Are you more concerned with having extra room to move over easy driving ability? Do you want better fuel economy and carefree driving and what is your price range? Once you are more sure of what you want you are better equipped to make the right decision when you buy your own RV.
