Quarter Old
My 10 yr old quarter horse just moved to a small private stable. He has started rearing in round pen, why?
He was stabled for over 6 years at a large stable with horses on either side. Now he is stabled a private resident stable with 2 other horses that are not near him. When in the round pen at old stable, he was fine. When I took him to the round pen by the new stable, he bucked, reared, pawed at the ground, and whinnied excessively. Could it be excess energy, fear of a new environment or what?
I had a similar case when i moved my horse a few months ago. What I was told was that it was a transition thing. Basically the horse doesn’t know its place at the barn yet so its uncomfortable. I just gave my horse a few weeks and he calmed down enough for me to continue training him so my advice is just time.
