did i ruin my future? I’m a junior and i got 3 bad grades on my 3rd quarter report card. 70 78 and 79?
I feel so guilty and horrible for doing so bad but i have a legit reason.
in the past 6 months (the end of 2nd quarter and the whole of 3rd) i have had a death in the family, a parent suffering form alcoholism who lost his licence and went to jail, i have had very bad problems with my two best friends and on top of that i suffer from depression and body dysmorphic disorder (which of couse has always existed)
please tell me your oppinion.
doy ou think these grades are okay due to my situation?
usually i’m an A B student and it shows that something went wrong my math grade went from 78 to 70 my history a 91 to a 78 and my chemistry grade dropped 5 points.
I tried my best but i was emotionally distracted and stressed and unhappy.
is it oklay that i did this bad?
It sure is inconvenient–as a junior, this is your most important year as this is the one colleges pay attention to.
However, on your college application, you get a chance to tell about the problems you’ve suffered…either through your college essay (don’t make it a sob story though) or some questions they ask which go something like, “Have you faced any challenges in your life?” I really don’t remember the exact question, but I remember seeing something like that.
You need to be able to pick up your grades, however. If you show that you came back up from your difficulties…well, colleges love that! So do well for the rest of this year and your senior year (which colleges might look at more closely in your case to see if you’ve “overcome your challenges”), and you just might be pleasantly surprised in the coming years…
