If possible, it is better to have a professional install your brick veneer. However, if you decide to do so yourself, remember to keep the following points in mind. The bricks are roughly an inch thick. As such, there are two methods for installation. You can either mount the brick on plywood and install it as one cohesive piece, or adhere it straight to the desired surface.
If you decide to utilize this building component as outdoor siding, for example, remember that it is a very porous item. Air and water will absorb into the bricks. Water damage is the most common problem that results from this issue. In order to avoid this, just make sure to use a vapor barrier when installing the bricks. That will allow the wall and veneer panels to remain separate.
In colder areas around the world, it is important that this brick style be installed using a sealant. If this step is neglected then the material will start to flake as a result of the damaging effects of frost. Sometimes stains will show up on the surface of the brick. Hard water, mildew, and moss will occasionally develop. Removing these stains do not require a lot of work. After a basic scrubbing these spots generally wash away.
