Proof Wisconsin

Wisconsin Unemployment Appeals/ Quit Exception Applied?
This is my first time attending an appeal hearing. In Wisconsin you can quit and get unemployment. One way is for domestic abuse. How can I prove the employee did not quit because of domestic abuse. The worker had to provide a protective order that is active from a few years ago. But how can you proof the abuse was not current. The worker resigned by letter. But I was told worker was in jail and that is why the worker quit. I checked public records and they say worker was not in jail. Can the supervisor just say she was told worker was in jail. Or do we need written proof? Please do not answer with a joke or question. Small Business Owner
You are not required to prove why she quit, that is her responsibility. However, you should still be prepared.
Wisconsin law requires a mandatory arrest for domestic abuse. Go to the Wisconsin courts website and do a search of the abuser’s name.

You can also request any records from the employee’s local police and/or sheriff’s department. If the abuse was severe enough to quit, they should have a record of it.
