What Do I Need In Order To Get a California State ID?
I am moving to California and would like to get a CA Identification Card. Do I just need proof of residence (bill w/address) and two forms of ID? A passport and I have a Maryland State Drivers License.
Is there anything else I will need to bring with me? Thanks!
You need your social security number (you don’t need the card, but bring it if you have it) and the $24 fee. Your passport is fine for proof of identity and legal status.
You’ll also need to fill out the correct form, which isn’t available online. Call the automated line at 1-800-777-0133; you want the DL 44, and they can mail it to you so you can fill it out ahead of time.
I can’t recommend enough that you make an appointment instead of just showing up at the DMV — with an appointment the whole thing will take less than 15 minutes, without it, plan to spend 1-2 hours in line.
