Did Texas history books, ever teach Texas could secede?
Texas 7th grade, teaches Texas History. I was taught, when Texas came into the Union in 1845. It could be broke up into five states. From it’s original borders, which was changed by Pres, Polk, to the present border lines.
My daughter, say’s, she was taught in school, Texas could secede, if it chose. I was never, taught Texas could secede, only split it self up, into five states.
Did Texas history books, teach TEXAS, could SECEDE?
The question was, did Texas History books at some time, have a statement, that said Texas could Secede from the Union.
Not, that some teacher, might have made a false statement of facts.
I know, history, does not always, ring true, but did did Texas History Books, used by Texas schools. Have a false statement in them.
I have not read, anywhere, other than someones opinion, that Texas could secede. Not in the Texas history books, Texas vs, White court case, the 1845 or 1876 Texas constitution.
Yes. We are taught that and teaching that in 7th grade Texas History (I subbed last year). Though I had never heard anything about being broken up into five territories. According to the current books, Texas is the only state that, with a unanimous vote from all of its Representatives and Senators could walk away from the union at any time with no consequence.
