Platinum Eagle

What is the highest selling album in the United States?
Isn’t it the Eagles “Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975″? I’m pretty sure it has sold more than Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, they both have 29 million, (aka 29x platinum), but the Eagles have a couple hundred thousand more if I’m correct. I was just wondering if anyone had the specific estimates. Furthermore what was the best selling album in the USA before Michael Jackson died? I am almost certain that Thriller jumped in sales due to his death. Was it The Eagles, or something completely different?
Please read my actual question and not the title. I’m sorry if it seems misleading but I couldn’t fit it all in the title. I used to have the same problem, just gotta check for any additional info before answering.
Thank you Janet but I did not mean in the whole world, just the United States. Those stats you gave are for the whole world right?
It is “Thriller” by Michael Jackson according to Wikipedia.
Thriller has sold between 70-110 million copies.
