Piece Coins
I have a 1908 Republic of Haiti 50 cent piece coin….what is the value (if any?) and do you know any history?
I have a whole collection of global coins- from 1800s to 1965 or so, he was in the coast guard, but during the war, he traveled the whole world. I have his journals too…and am trying to piece together his coins and journals. His coins however were in his house in FL, so a bit tarnished and dark from moisture….what should I do with them- and how would you begin?!! Help please!
I found a total of 4 1908 Haiti 50 centimes on eBay starting at around $3 US with no bids currently.
DO NOT clean the coins unless they are so bad as to be completely unreadable. You should probably start by getting a ‘Standard Catalog of World Coins’; they can usually be found on eBay, Amazon, or at coin shops or you might be able to find one at a library. Notice 1801-1900 (19th century), 1901-2000 (20th century), and 2001-present (21st century) are sold separately though some older ones are one volume.
When searching online it helps to list as much of the information directly from each coin as possible. For instance 1908 Republic Haiti 50 centimes is good.
