Penny Some

So what’s it to be, adventure in the wild or standing at some cages?
So what is the point in travelling all that way to Africa, when all you need to do is take a drive down the road? It is a common misconception that you can see everything in a zoo that you can see while on a safari. So let’s try and clear a few things up, let’s look at the advantages and disadvantages of the two.
We’ll start with the Zoo. Straight away, here is something your all probably thinking, it wont be very expensive. Even though you don’t actually see these animals in their habitats, you are still able to see them none the less. The chance to see these animals is rare, but a zoo offers this chance to everybody, in some cases you can actually interact with these animals (probably not the dangerous ones). If you compare the distances, you will find that there is probably a zoo much closer to you. Anyone usually has a zoo within about 100-150 miles of them, not 6000 miles in a plane. Even thought the zoo is a great place for kids, it is also good fun for couples or a visit on your own.
So now let’s take a look at the Safari. If you want an idea of how amazing these holidays, then consider this, they are utterly amazing, life changing and unforgettable. The Maasai Mara and the Serengeti are stunning safari locations. The chance to see these animals in their true habitat and to experience life like they do. Imagine the feeling of sitting in your bed knowing there are Lions or rhinos walking around outside. Safari’s may be expensive, but you will be glad you invested in one, however it probably isn’t a good idea to take the whole family. You will hear astonishing stories that your guide will tell you about and some of them are considered luxury holidays.
Think carefully when you go to the zoo the next time, the more you see these animals in captivity the more you will want to see them in the wild, you never know you might end up wanting a Kenya safari!
