I need to build a bridge that supports 50 grams of weight (half a penny roll) mad of straws, paper clips, tape
, pipe cleaners, that is 5cm high and spans 40 cm. How do I do it?

What you need to remember is that triangles are the strongest shape in terms of holding weight. If I were you I would use the straws to make several triangles and use the paperclips and tape to bond them together. Then, mount the triangles in the pipe cleaners and bond them with tape. For the bottom crossbeams I would put pipe cleaners inside of straws if they fit. This way you get bending resistence and a rigid frame. If you use enough tape to hold them together thatn this should work. Make the side of the bridge look like an M.
