5.) maria invests 1500 for 1 yr at 7.5% simple interest. how much interest does she earn?
1) Percent=per 100. 1/4 = 25/100 (multiply numerator and denominator by 25). That means it is 25%.
2) 132% OF something means 132% times something. Percent is per 100, to find the real value of it in numbers divide by 100. If that makes sense. 132% is really 1.32. 1.32 x ? = 134.64 . So we work backwards: 134.64 / 1.32 = 102. 102 is your answer.
3) First, find the total. 300+100+200=600. Now 300 out of 600 is a fraction: 300/600. % is per 100, again, so divided both numerator and denominator by 6. 50/100, which is 50%.
4) 6.8% of 895.89. 6.8% is really 0.068. So you multiply (of means multiply). 60.92052. Now, you probably want to round to the nearest hundredth, because then it would be dollars and cents. Your final answer is $60.92.
5) Basically, find 7.5% of 1500. Sorry if this sounds repetitive, but multiply =). 7.5% is 0.075. Multiply that and you get 112.5. In dollars and cents that would be $112.50. That is how much interest she earns.
