Invisible fence partial break?

We have determined that we have a partial break in our Petsafe Underground fence. Just a trickle of power is emitted. Problem is, the ohm meter and the collar itself will always show a reading and the box shows a complete circuit but the signal is too weak to correct our dog or even emit a beep. So basically, just enough power to screw us! from reading online, i have NO idea what to do. Any suggestions or tips?

please no “just dig it all up” – we have 4 acres of invisible fencing!!!
The unit is 2 years old, this problem is a new one. When you approach the line, you only trigger the warning beep if the collar is held all the way to the ground, but no matter what, there is not enough power to trigger the correction.
Thanks for the tip about wire connections/seams.

Have you tried testing the unit to make sure it’s putting out the proper voltage. I am assuming this is a new problem. not to make you sound stupid but have you checked the output to make sure the voltage is turned up and didn’t get turned down at some point or is it on low and the dog has gotten used to it. I have had 2 problems with underground fences. 1 The probes on the collar get dirty and don’t work correctly and the dog just pays it no mind. 2 the unit was not powerful enough to make it that far. When installed how many connections had to be made in the wire or did you use one 4 acre wire? I would if you marked them check any connections. If you used more than one piece of wire you may be able to just walk out the distance of the sections if you can remember the length you used. Also check the unit connections for corrosion use a finger mail file to clean them or a small wire brush.
