Ohio Quarter
What’s the difference between a college that uses the semester system and a college that uses a quarter system?
I’m on a semester program right now for my A.S. in Early Childhood Education, and will hopefully be attending OSU (Ohio State University branch) in Newark, Ohio and the OSU Newark branch uses a Quarter system.
1)Will I lose any credits by transferring to OSU Newark branch?
2)If your college is on a Semester program, but uses a QPA grading scale, then will that affect the number of credits that transfer into a regular 4 year school?
No credits dont get lost. Your semester credits are ‘converted’. Your old GPA does not get added in for your new school, but the credits are ‘accepted for transfer’.
Once in a while, there is a a glitch in the calculation of semester hours to quarter hours. usually 3 semester hours equates to 4 quarter hours. Sometimes, if you took a 4 credit semester hour course, like a lab science, you get 5.25 quarter hours. make sure that you understand and get IN WRITING the exact transfer calculations. It should come from the Registrars office at the new school.
