There are a number of reasons people get into and fall in love with scrapbooking, preserving memories, meeting people at a scrapbooking club and unleasing your creativity on paper. What is scrapbooking?
The idea behind creating a scrapbook it to preserve your most precious memories in a way that is both interesting and creative. Scrabooking begins with a collection of memories, photos, invites and other memorabilia. For example, you can have an entire scrapbook dedicated to a birthday, or you can have a scrapbook that is dedicated to a specific year. The difference between a scrapbook and a photo album is that the scrapbooker will actually set the photographs on a page that has been decorated with the theme or mood of the event. In a scrapbook each page has an individual feel that fits into the main theme of the book.
How to get started with scrapbooking?
The first thing that you need to do is to assemble all of your old pictures that you have just sitting around, and get those others developed that you have been waiting to do. Once you have all of your memories in front of you start sorting them out. Basically, you want to divide them into groups by theme, date, or some other type of organization. Now that you have them sorted out spend some time figuring out which scrapbook you want to start with. Once this has been done, you are now really to begin. Get yourself a scrapbook, but take it one step at a time. Focus on the first page before moving onto the second. Allow yourself to have some fun, and to be creative.
Where to get scrapbooking materials?
You can find scrapbooking materials in all sorts of places. The obvious place is in craft stores. When you drop in, you will find a large amount of stickers and odds and ends to have a look at. Online vendors also are another great source of scrapbooking supplies. Many scrappers find that there is a greater selection of materials online than in physical stores. However, do not disregard the contents of you home office or craft bin. Take a look at what you have around the house because that extra construction paper and glitter may come in handy.
How to improve?
Scrapbooking is one of those things that get better with practice. Looking on the Internet will net you a bunch of great websites and suppliers of scrapbook materials. many people learn differently and many benefit from attending scrapbooking classes where people pass on ideas and techniques. If classes aren’t your style, scrapbooking clubs are also quite a popular place to pass along ideas and show your scrapbooks to others.
