Nickel Indian
what is the value of a 1917 Indian head nickel?

It depends on the condition and the location where the coin was minted.
1917 (made in Philadelphia)in fine condition is $4.50 but in uncirculated condition is worth$120.00.
1917D ( made in Denver) is $25.00 in fine condition but $650.00 in uncirculated condition.
1917S (made in San Francisco) is $35.00 in fine condition but $850.00 in uncirculated condition.
If the coin shows alot of wear, it could be worth anywhere from $1.00 to $16.00, depending on where it was minted.
To be considered fine condition : 3/4 of the buffalo’s horn has to be visible and the outside rim intact.
If there is no letter beside the date, it was minted in Philadelphia.

P.S.
There were only 4 million of the 1917 Indian head nickels minted in San Fran, only 9 million minted in Denver, but 51 million minted in Philadelphia. The less amount minted, the more valuble the coin.
