Nickel First

What happens when a penny,nickel,dime,or quarter goes in salt or sugar water?

I’m doing a science fair project. I’m using four glass containers of the same size. I’m putting one penny,nickel,dime, and quarter in salt water,fresh water, and sugar water. I’m going to see which one is going to rust first, and which water makes it rust more.

I hate to tell you but none of them will rust while submerged in the water, no matter what the mix is.
Sometimes when a boat sinks they will not bring it up until they can get right to cleaning it. It is the combination of salt water and air that causes the rust.
