Has anyone ever done the actors/movie extras jobs advertised in the thrifty nickel newspapers??????????

I was thinking about calling/applying and want to know if this is a scam or if it is actually worth time looking into. I am not trying to start a career in acting, i just need some extra money right now and am willing to do anything. Thanks for your time
