How Much Money Do you think I will need For a month in new york?
Next year, I hope to spend a month in New York (Boston) with my friend. We are not paying for accommodation as we are staying with her aunt who has a basement flat that we are using. We intend to do the tourist thing (I am determined to see at least on NFL game.. ) and try to experience New York’s arts scene. We have worked out food costs for the month (around $600) and I have worked out UK to JFK flight costs.
Basically, would really appreciate someone giving me a rough estimate that I can work on so that I don’t have to get a visa and work whilst I am out there, would much rather work now and save up…
So, I got it wrong, Her aunt lives in NY, and her grandparents Live in Boston, so we are going to both…
And I meant about $600 each.. would that still not be enough?
$600 on food costs? WRONG! if you go bargain food shopping… half teh fun of being NYC is all teh places to eat! SO… just know that you will be tempted to eat out alot! also while you are out and about seeing the city you are not going to be packing lunches. Also.. even just grocery shopping in NYC is atleast 35% more than other parts of the country!
A train ride is 2.25 one way… so bet on taking that places. Then also bet on being so far away from where you are staying and thinking “ohhhh man! i dont want to take 3 trains to get there (in a roasting hot subway)” so then instead you hop in a TAXI which are the most expensive taxis in teh country!
WORK now— save at least $2000 for spending money just for you! and you will have a blast:)
