Back In Vegas With A Handle In Your Hand
Las Vegas is a city that grew from the barren desert sands to become the entertainment capital of the world. Casinos, music shows, magic shows, world class restaurants and so much more. To make an attempt to summarize all of the entertainment options offered in Las Vegas in a short article is an impossible assignment, but it’s not challenging to provide some idea of the fascinating and exciting place that is the city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Guests to Las Vegas need to understand something regarding the design of the city. Through its heart runs Las Vegas Boulevard. Commonly called ‘The Strip’, this street is more or less parallel to U.S. 15, the Las Vegas Freeway, and is the fundamental spine of what most visitors regard as Vegas. The Strip is where you will find the legendary casinos, the famed shows, and all of the best restaurants. It is a loud, zany, active place in the heart of the city which runs for nearly 4 miles. The largest hotels, casinos and resorts in the world are located on the Strip. In fact, 19 of the 25 leading hotels in the world are located within the 4 mile boundary of the strip. More than 67,000 rooms are available in hotels in this fairly small vicinity.
Beginning in the south with Mandalay Bay, the Strip presents visitors a luxury hotel experience in a resort venue which features some of the most extraordinary events to come to Las Vegas. The adjacent Mandalay Bay Events Center often hosts boxing, Ultimate Fighting Championship events, and large scale awards shows such as the Latin Grammy Awards in 2007 and 2009.
Mandalay Bay’s sister properties can be located just to the north. The Luxor and Excalibur are resort casinos with many gaming and entertainment options. The Luxor was home to the Blue Man Group performance art show from 2000 to 2005, however that show has since moved up the strip to the Venetian. Popular Broadway musicals also make their way through the Luxor’s immense theater space.
The MGM Grand can be found on the opposite side of the Strip, linked by pedestrian bridges. This resort features a number of diverse entertainment opportunities including a glass sided lion habitation in the casino. Cirque du Soleil maintains a show at the MGM Grand, and a replica of New York’s Studio 54 nightclub is operating in the hotel.
Farther up the strip, the famed casinos and show venues can be enjoyed. Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, the Flamingo, Mirage, Treasure Island, and many more put forward unique shows on a rotating basis.
But just because Las Vegas is a city full of hotels and resorts, don’t believe that it’s the only manner to stay. Vacation rentals can be had just off the strip. Condos, vacation homes, and other solutions are widely available. The fact is, Las Vegas is legendary for the Las Vegas Strip, but beyond the Boulevard, it is a energetic and busy city in its own rite. That means that there exists a wide variety of places to lodge, activities to do, and ways to get a kick out of your time in Fabulous Las Vegas.
