baby mississippi map turtle not eatting?
i got this mississippi map turtle(named him ares) fom an reptile show, size of an quarter. hes really active, has uva uvb lighting, right temp and everything and he is still not eating. he loves to swim and bask ad yet still not eating. and i noticed on the side of his shell near his butt is flimsy is that normal for a hatchling??? help me
Turtles frequently won’t eat for a couple of weeks in a new habitat. If it goes beyond that, try tempting it with small earthworms. You can add snails too. Until the turtle eats them, they will help keep the tank clean.
The soft shell is normal for hatchlings. They have to uncoil from the shape they had in the egg. If you feed a diet high in protein and calcium, the shell will eventually harden up as the turtle grows.
