Why does my car miss after I accelerate from a complete stop?
I have a 99 pontiac firebird and when I stop and then accelarate my car will miss, almost shutting down, but then it will take off like nothing happened. I replaced fuel line, fuel rail, spark plugs and spark plug wires and it fixed it for a while but now it does the same thing. ANY SUGGESTIONS on what I can do to fix this problem???????
The car is compeletly stock. I dont do rapid acceleration, its just gradual and it misses then it accelerates.
You didn’t say if you have checked the Fuel Pressure. It could be something with the fuel pump. Some of the GM pumps from that era would pump enough fuel to have the car run but not enough to supply the vehicle with enough fuel to sustain rapid acceleration. I am not saying that is what it is for sure but could be the culprit. You also didnt say if you had modified the car any for performance or if there is a CEL on? If so it could easily be something else that you have added for performance reasons. The other thing is that if the car has a MAF sensor and you have changed out to a K&N filter the car could run properly under normal conditions but under rapid acceleration from stop it can stop and studder. This is due to the oil from the filter coating the MAF sensor. Just another idea. Good Luck and if you can post additional info that you have concerning Mods or CEL.
