Collecting Genuine Celebrity Autographs
There is a value to any celebrity autograph because so many fans are prepared to pay for them. The autographs of famous political figures can sometimes sell for a lot of money but it depends on how popular they are. There are people who are prepared to spend a lot of money adding names to their autograph collection. The majority of autograph collectors just enjoy the fun of obtaining celebrity autographs and building their collection.
If you check the prices similar autographs are being sold for elsewhere you will have a good guide to their value. It is important to make sure that any autograph you are buying or selling is an authentic autograph. If you see something being offered at an unusually low price it may be that it is suspect. Learning how to tell the genuine article can help you know you are looking at the authentic signature.
Compare any suspicious autograph with one you know is real to check it is authentic. When you see two autographs that are exactly the same you should wonder if they are genuine or not since we all write slightly differently every time we sign our name. Autographs are like snowflakes and no two are alike though they can look similar. A genuine autograph will have indentaions where the pen was used. A lack of them suggest that it may be simply printed instead of being a genuine autograph. Some people choose to buy copies as it is so much easier and cheaper to buy them.
The more information you have about any famous celebrity autograph you are interested in the better you will be able to judge it’s value. Checking a rare autograph can be difficult because they are not easy to obtain but if it is real it could be valuable. If it was one you bought and you got it very cheaply it may be the seller knew it was not real so they set the price low. The seller might not have known how valuable it was.
You do need to be careful as there are a lot of scammers in the autograph industry and simply paying a high price gives no guarantee. Do your research before buying or selling autographs or you could get a bad reputation if you mistakenly sell copies as genuine signatures.
