American tourists, do you put a Canadian maple Leaf flag on your backpack to repel anti-American sentiment?

I LOVE CANADA. I’ve been there. Wonderful Country. BUT I’M AMERICAN. I would put the AMERICAN FLAG PROUDLY on my backpack. Spit on me Australia. Harass me. I AM AMERICAN and proud of it. Do you American tourists stick the maple leaf on your luggage because its easy?
My backpack actually has a Norwegian flag on it.. but I live in Norway, bought the backpack here and it just happened to be there.
As far as anti-American sentiment, there is very little of that directed towards individuals in Europe. I’ve lived in Europe for the last decade, and not once met anyone that had a problem with me for being American. I don’t try to hide it (or flaunt it either). I’ve met people from all over the world, including those from supposedly anti-American countries, and it’s just not true. I’m not saying that predjudiced people don’t exist, but most judge on individual merit rather than nationality. Unless they’re drunk, as the other answerer mentioned 
If anything, people are curious to learn about American culture and people (somewhere besides movies and tv), so why hide it? It helps move conversation past small talk onto more interesting topics.
That said, I’m not nationalistic either. There are good things and bad things about the US, just like everywhere else. I happen to be from one country, but I easily could have been from another. Being proud of my country would be like being proud that I’m tall or have blue eyes.. I really didn’t have anything to do with it. I’m unembarrassed to be American though, probably for the same reasons.
