What type of business licenses do I need? (Missouri)?

I am considering opening a courier business based out of my home and would like some information on the type of business licenses I will need. I live in the city of Imperial in Jefferson Co, MO (near St. Louis, MO) and will service 3-4 different municipalities. I’m not sure if I need a business license for my county or one for all the areas I serve. Can anyone help?

It all depends on the state you live in, I live in New York and the laws are different here. The only thing I can suggest is that you contact your local County Clerks office, they are the ones who will definitely help you out. I had to contact my county clerks office to get my small business started, they helped me out big time. They will ask you what type of business, how many people working in it, location, etc, etc.

I wish you luck, hope your business is a success, just remember that the first year or two is the hardest, probably will be spending much more than you anticipated but in due time you will get it all back.
