What issue united the Thirteen colonies more; political philosophies or cultural identity? How did this unification culminate in the creation of the U.S. Constitution?

Political philosophies. They were sick of being controlled by outsiders without having any say in what laws governed them. Taxation without representation. They wanted the freedom to expand and to benefit more from the goods that were produced, instead of being charged so that a place across the ocean would benefit from it. They didn’t have a unified cultural identity. “THE United States,” the wording that made the country sound like a single unit instead of a collection of states, wasn’t said until Abraham Lincoln used it. The early states had different official religions, and could throw out or even execute people who lived there that were the wrong religion.
