Indianhead Cent

Indianhead Cent
What is the value of an 1856 dime and a1920 indianhead/ buffalo nickel ?

My mother found the 1856 dime whilst gardening when we lived upstate NY. The front has a woman holding a type of sceptre and the back has a wreath with “one dime” written in the middle. The dime is quite worn and smooth.
The nickel is also worn, but in “useable” condition. I got it as change, so i figured it might not be worth more than it’s actual 5 cents. It’s just that I heard indianhead/buffalo coins were collectibles.

Anyone know thier values?

I will give you some information about your coins and their values. Your 1856 dime is referred to as a Liberty Seated Dime. They were minted from 1837-1891 and designed by Christian Gobrecht. I am guessing that your dime was buried, it probably has a low grade it is worth around $15.00. I find it interesting that you received your buffalo nickel as change. Buffalo nickels were minted from 1913-1938, they were designed by James Fraser. The year 1920 had a mintage of 63,093,000 and is worth around $1.50. I hope this information helps answer your question.
