How bad for your body is eating a half pound block of extra sharp chedder cheese?

I ate a block just wondering.

It’s Cabot cheese.

Eating 8 oz of full fat cheese in a single sitting is probably not a good idea too often. On average, that much cheddar has approximately 900 kCal, 75g fat (including 48g saturated fat), 240mg cholesterol and 1400mg of sodium.

Given that the recommended caloric intake for a day is 2500 kCal or so, of which only 10% of calories should come from saturated fat (28g), you managed to eat over a third of your calorie intake and almost twice your saturated fat intake in one sitting. Wow.

Eating saturated fat to excess is simply not a good idea. Even if you have a fast metabolism and don’t put on weight, sat fat has a dangerous effect on your cholesterol level. You should try and limit it in your diet.

That said, eating something bad for you on occasion isn’t going to kill you as long as you don’t make a habit of it. The key to healthy eating isn’t starving yourself, it’s moderation.
